University undergraduate (bachelor) study

Undergraduate study programme is made according to the modular structure, where module is a thematic unit consisting of lectures, exercises and seminars. Each module has a module coordinator, and within the module besides the coordinator, there are several professors and teacher assistants who can lecture, too. The number of teachers involved in a module depends on what module consists of. Each module has a unique timetable and for each module a unique exam is taken, regardless of the number of the lecturers. The exam is usually written, held by a module coordinator who forms a unique exam based on the questions composed by all the lecturers in the module. All undergraduate study modules have uniform structure: lasting one semester, module comprises 75 in-class lectures and is worth 6 ECTS credits.

When choosing modules, students must choose at least three modules from other majors which makes possible for them to acquire broader basic knowledge of agriculture. This approach also gives them option of attending master studies other than the one they enrolled at. The selection of modules is done in association with mentor and the coordinator of study. Both optional and compulsory bachelor modules last one semester, meaning that they are taught during whole semester.

This selection of modules is done with the assistance of the mentor or the coordinator of the study, and considering student’s personal interests and future career plans. Selecting modules from other European universities provides students with opportunity of acquiring highly specialized knowledge in certain fields, which significantly raises the quality of a study programme.
